Substitute Home Educator, Early Head Start

- Minimum education requirements:
- Associate Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Family Development or related field required.
- Within 18 months of hire: 120 training hours, or 11 college credit hours, in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
- Availability for some evening and weekend hours required
- Experience in Early Childhood, social services, health or family support programs providing parent education and support preferred
- Experience planning developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers preferred
- Education or experience in working with adults in a helping and teaching role preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Head Start or Early Head Start experience preferred
- Head Start or Early Head Start parent or past parent preferred
- Access to reliable transportation required
- Required prior to date of hire and thorough employment:
- Valid driver’s license
- Proof of current auto insurance
- Food Handler’s Card
- Current enrollment in the Oregon’s Central Background Registry
- Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is required
- Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed
- Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider)so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
