Latino Fest returns to Sahalee Park in Madras
Live Mariachi music and folkloric dancing will liven up Sahalee Park in Madras on September 14th at the second annual Latino Fest and the Latino Community Association (LCA) invites the entire community to be a part of this special celebration. The free event will happen from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the park at SE 7th and C streets.
Latino Fest celebrates the Latin American cultures where residents of Madras and surrounding areas have their roots. The festival includes educational cultural booths, a community resource fair with kids’ activities, delicious food, business vendors and live local entertainment, including: La Luna Folkloric Dancers, El Toro y su Alegría Norteña band, the gymnastics group Unique Performing Arts, DJ Sonido Sangre Azteca, and Mariachi Los Temerosos de Juan Antonio from Hood River. Visitors can stroll through the park to watch performances, taste ethnic foods, find out about programs and services in their community, and enjoy kid’s games, breaking piñatas, and bouncing around in a jump castle.
Latino Fest will be sharing the park with the Madras Saturday Market where local farmers sell fresh produce, eggs, cheese, meat, and local hand-crafted items from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 7th Street side of the park.
